Before coming to Stanford, Chris worked at Apple for 8.5 years, in Austin, TX and later in Campbell & Cupertino, CA, where Chris headed up Mac OS issues for the customer support division. His computer experience dates back to 1980, including Heath/Zenith CP/M machines, then the Apple IIe, and the Macintosh in 1984.
Chris’ undergraduate degree was from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. After completing the Defense Language Institute’s 47-week intensive course in Russian, he returned to Penn and earned his MA in Slavic linguistics. In recent years, he has studied Sanskrit and Spanish.
His interest in photography dates back to his first cameras, a Kodak Brownie and later a Leica, in high school. In addition to GSE, Chris does volunteer photography for non-profit organizations working for social good, and his old boarding school, where he also servers on the board of trustees.
